Best Sandals Resorts for Honeymooners

The short answer: The best Sandals resort for a honeymoon depends entirely on what kind of experience you are looking for. After sending clients to every Sandals property across the Caribbean and the Bahamas, and visiting Turks and Caicos, the Exumas, Nassau, and Jamaica personally, I can tell you that no two Sandals resorts are the same. The couples who have the best honeymoons are the ones who chose the right property for how they want to travel, not just the most popular one.

What I Have Seen Firsthand

Our team has personal experience in Turks and Caicos, the Exumas, Nassau, and Jamaica, and we have sent clients to every single Sandals property across the Caribbean and the Bahamas. That breadth of experience is what allows me to have an honest conversation with a couple about which property actually fits what they are looking for, rather than defaulting to the most marketed option.

The water and beaches in the Bahamas are unlike anything else in the Caribbean. Nassau in particular has a private island component that I absolutely love. When clients come back from that property, the photos they share say everything. The setting is stunning and the private island experience adds a level of seclusion that most all-inclusive resorts simply cannot offer.

In Jamaica, Sandals operates several properties across different locations and they each draw a very different type of traveler. Understanding that distinction is critical. Jamaica is the destination where I spend the most time walking couples through the differences before we make a decision, because choosing the wrong Jamaican property can mean the difference between a peaceful, romantic honeymoon and a lively, high-energy resort experience that may not be what a couple had in mind.

The Three Sandals Properties I Recommend Most for Honeymooners

Sandals Grande St. Lucian — St. Lucia

St. Lucia is consistently my top recommendation for honeymooners who want the most romantic atmosphere of any Sandals destination. What makes it exceptional is the stay-at-one, play-at-three arrangement. Guests at any of the three St. Lucia Sandals properties have full access to all three resorts, each with its own distinct personality, dining options, and atmosphere. That means a couple can have a quiet, secluded morning at their home resort and be at a completely different property with a different vibe by afternoon.

St. Lucia itself is lush and green, with dramatic volcanic scenery that you simply do not find anywhere else in the Caribbean. The accessibility of the island is another reason couples love it. It does not feel remote or difficult to reach, and once they are there, they have the full benefit of Sandals's flagship Caribbean romance experience.

Sandals South Coast — Jamaica

Sandals South Coast is a property I recommend with genuine enthusiasm for honeymooners who want an overwater bungalow experience without the flight to Tahiti. The overwater bungalows here are exactly what couples imagine when they picture that iconic experience, with direct water access and views that are genuinely breathtaking.

I want to be honest about one thing: it is approximately 90 minutes from the airport on a winding road. Some couples find that drive a little long after a full day of travel. But without exception, every couple who has made that drive and arrived at Sandals South Coast has told me they would do it again without hesitation. The property is that good. An important note for couples considering this resort: it was affected by a hurricane and is currently being fully refurbished. It is reopening in November 2026, which means couples booking for late 2026 and into 2027 will be experiencing a freshly renovated property at its absolute best.

Sandals Royal Bahamian — Nassau, Bahamas

For couples who want the most dramatic beach and water experience of any Sandals property, Nassau is the answer. The Bahamas has water clarity and color that is simply unmatched anywhere else in the Caribbean, and Sandals Royal Bahamian sits right on it. The private island component of this property is what sets it apart. Guests have access to an offshore private island with its own restaurants, pools, and beach, and the experience of being on a genuinely private island for the day is something clients rave about every single time.

When couples send me photos from Nassau, the water in every single picture looks like something out of a magazine. It is that beautiful.

Every single person we have sent on a Sandals honeymoon has come back with pictures. From the food to the activities, when it is all-inclusive at Sandals, it is truly all-inclusive.

What Couples Get Wrong When Choosing a Sandals Resort

The most common mistake I see couples make when choosing a Sandals resort on their own is not accounting for size, energy level, and location within the destination. Every Sandals property has its own personality and its own clientele, and those differences matter enormously for a honeymoon.

The questions I always ask before recommending a property are simple: Do you want a large resort with a lot of on-site energy and activity, or a smaller, quieter, more intimate atmosphere? Do you want to be close to town and local culture, or fully removed from everything? Is the beach and water the most important thing, or is it the room category and on-site amenities?

In Jamaica especially, this matters. Sandals operates multiple properties across the island and they are in very different locations with very different atmospheres. A couple who books the wrong Jamaican property because it had good photos online can end up in a resort that does not match their expectations at all. That is exactly what a Sandals Certified Specialist is there to prevent.

  • Size: some Sandals properties are large and lively, others are small and intimate
  • Location: within a destination, different properties have very different settings and access
  • Energy: some properties attract a younger, more social crowd, others are quieter and more secluded
  • Beach and water: the quality and character of the beach varies significantly by property and island
  • Room category: not every room upgrade is worth the same premium at every property
