Common Questions

Asia Travel FAQ

When is the best time to visit Vietnam, Japan, and Thailand?

Japan shines during cherry blossom season (late March through early April) and autumn foliage (November). Vietnam is best from November through April when the weather is dry across most of the country. Thailand's cool, dry season runs from November through February. Our advisors help align your travel dates with weather, festivals, and shoulder-season pricing.

How many days should I spend in each country?

For a first visit to Japan, plan on 10 to 14 nights to cover Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hakone or Hiroshima. Vietnam works well as a 10 to 14 night north-to-south journey through Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City. Thailand suits 10 to 14 nights combining Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and a beach stay in Phuket or Koh Samui.

Can you combine multiple Asian countries in one trip?

Yes. Multi-country Asia itineraries are one of our specialties. Common pairings include Vietnam and Thailand, Japan and Thailand, or a longer three-country journey that layers in Cambodia's Angkor Wat or a luxury Mekong river cruise.

Do I need a visa for Vietnam, Japan, or Thailand?

US passport holders currently do not need a visa for short leisure visits to Japan or Thailand. Vietnam requires an e-visa for most travelers. We provide current entry requirements and documentation checklists as part of every itinerary.

What kind of hotels and experiences do you recommend?

We book Aman, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, Rosewood, Capella, and boutique ryokan properties across the region, paired with private English-speaking guides, tea ceremonies, cooking classes, junk-boat overnights in Halong Bay, and after-hours access to temples and cultural sites.
