European cruise comparison questions

Which European cruise line is best for a first-time cruiser?

Princess and Celebrity are the easiest entry points for a first European cruise, with frequent sailings, familiar premium service, and strong value in the Mediterranean. Viking Ocean suits first-timers who want a quieter, adults-only ship with more included in the fare.

Which line includes the most in the fare?

Viking Ocean includes the most by default: a shore excursion in every port, Wi-Fi, beer and wine with meals, specialty dining, and spa access. Princess, Celebrity, and Holland America use a base fare plus optional packages, which can be a better value if you do not want beverages or Wi-Fi bundles.

Should I cruise the Mediterranean or Northern Europe first?

The Mediterranean delivers ancient history, iconic cities, and warm-weather sailing from April through October. Northern Europe offers fjords, the Baltics, Iceland, and the British Isles in a shorter May-to-September season. Most travelers start with the Mediterranean and return for Northern Europe, but Terry can match the region to your interests.

How much does a European ocean cruise cost?

A 7-night European cruise typically runs $900 to $2,200 per person on premium lines and $2,500 to $4,000 on Viking Ocean, where every stateroom has a veranda and more is included. Longer voyages of 10 to 15 nights generally range from $1,800 to $8,000 per person depending on line, cabin, and season. Availability and pricing vary by season — contact Terry for the most current pricing.
