Every advisor on our team has a specialty that comes from somewhere real. Dawn was born and raised in Alaska. Tiffany has spent years mastering Disney and Universal. My own passion has always been European river cruising. So when it came time to build out a new specialty focused on historical travel, we did not go looking for a trend. We built it around someone who has been living it his whole life.
I am proud to introduce Tyler Muench, our newest advisor and the person now leading Cruisin Couple Travel Agency's historical and heritage travel specialty.
Meet Tyler Muench
Tyler majored in political science and minored in history in college, but his love of history started long before that. He was the kid who checked out every history book the library would let him take home, and that habit never stopped. He still reads history books and firsthand accounts today, and he has always believed that the best way to understand a place is to stand in it, not just read about it.
A Passion Put to the Test in Sweden
That belief was tested in a real way a few years ago, when Tyler was in Sweden working on a television pilot as part of a videography crew. The schedule left almost no free time. But when a small window opened, he used it to walk through Gamla Stan, Stockholm's Old Town, and the Vasa Museum, home to a nearly fully intact seventeenth century warship recovered after more than three hundred years underwater. He had only a few hours. It was not enough. But it confirmed what he already knew, that even a brief, unplanned brush with real history is worth more than almost anything else a trip can offer.
What Our Historical and Heritage Travel Specialty Covers
Tyler's new specialty is built around that same idea. It covers ocean cruises, river cruises, and land tours centered on deep, immersive history, from World War Two battlefields and naval history to the great conflicts and civilizations that shaped the world. It also covers historian led travel, trips where an actual historian joins the journey to add context and depth, in the spirit of the expert led travel style made popular by programs like Smithsonian Journeys.
